sand slips gently away
from my body
molding a place for me
in its firm support
my cheek warms the cool grains
my hand digs deep
like the tiny hand of a baby
searching past cloth
for the touch of skin
a greater closeness
to the Mother breast
Her breath sounding
in the ocean’s roar
Her heartbeat echoed
by my own
my tears
are a small reflection
of Her watery vastness
I feel Her pull me close
I am hanging on
as though for dear life
and allow myself
to sink deeper
into the greatest hug
I have ever known
